Measurement (vol 1)

Measuring is comparing the quantity measured with a similar quantity stipulated as a unit.

The instrument used as the standard of comparison and instrument used to measure is called the measuring instrument.

Length measuring instruments :

1. A ruler, with the accuracy of 1 mm

2. A tape measure, with the accuracy of 1 mm

3. A vernier caliper, with the accuracy of 0.1

4. A micrometer caliper, with the accuracy of 0.01

Mass measuring instruments include : the scales, the three hands scale and the electronic scale.

Time measuring instruments :

1. Sundial

2. Hourglass

3. Wristwatch

4. Stopwatch

5. Atomic clock

The standard unit is a unit which has already been internationally acknowledged and validated. For example: a meter, a kilogram, and a liter.

A nonstandard unit is a unit which has not been approved internationally, so it is only valid in certain places. For example : a hand spand, a lance, an inch, a foot, and a mile.
